FOUNDATIONS OF AMERICAN LAW & GOVERNMENT DISPLAY APPROVED Thursday evening, March 30, 2006, the Georgia Senate approved a final version of HB 941, authorizing local governments to erect historical displays that include a copy of the Ten Commandments. The unanimous vote of the Senate paves the way for communities to educate their citizens regarding historical facts about our country’s founding. We at Ten Commandments Georgia, Inc., believe that these documents further bear witness that our country has a Judeo-Christian foundation. It is important that the truth be known to our citizens. Understanding the underlying philosophy of our nation’s founding will serve to create a better informed citizenry. For as President Woodrow Wilson said, “A nation which does not remember what it was yesterday, does not know what it is today, nor what it is trying to do.” These documents help us to know where we have been, to see where we are now, and to plan for where we want to be in the future. It is our hope that all 159 counties in Georgia will accept their part in educating their citizens of America’s heritage by displaying these documents. The following documents, along with the Ten Commandments, are to be included in the displays:

* The Mayflower Compact, 1620

* The Declaration of Independence

* Magna Carta

* ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ by Francis Scott Key

* The national motto: ‘In God We Trust’

* The Preamble to the Georgia Constitution

* The Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution

* The description on the image of Lady Justice.
