REPORT ON SC TRIP OF 1O COMMANDMENTS MONUMENT:

On Saturday, Sept 25 the 10 Commandments monument was on display all day on Campus at Bob Jones University (BJU), Greenville, SC An estimated 1,000 faculty, staff and students, guests visited from the campus and the local community. The BJU TV network did an interview for distribution on their satellite system. The local Fox TV station covered program and ran a long segment on their upstate station at 10 PM. The local Christian and conservative TIMES EXAMINER weekly newspaper covered the event. Several of the popular upstate conservative talk shows covered the event at BJU.

On Sunday, Sept 26, 9:00 AM -1:00 PM the 10 Cmdts monument was at Evangel Cathedral, Spartanburg, SC and an est 2,000 guests visited before and after church services. Both Chaplain (Lt. Col.) E. Ray Moore, Jr, SC tour sponsor, and AVIDD President, Jim Cabaniss, monument custodian, were invited to speak during the church services. Also, Dr. Charles Gaulden, pastor, addressed his support for this issue briefly during his sermon. He called on Christians to pray and fast for revival in our nation in response to the wickedness and attacks on our Christian heritage that is so strong today.

On Sunday, Sept 26, 5:00 - 9:00 PM the 10 Cmdts monument was on display at First Church of the Nazarene, Columbia, SC. Joe and Gladys Grimaud, Christian leaders of City Lights, a local Christian ministry and Columbia business couple, were local sponsors. An estimated 700 guests visited before and after services from the congregation and local community. Rev Geoff Kunselman, pastor at First Nazarene has also been among local pastors supportive of the 10 Cmdts effort. THE STATE paper, SC's largest ran a brief article to announce the visit. Channel 25, ABC affiliate, covered the event in Columbia, SC.

At each of these events Jim Cabaniss and his AVIDD team were able to give brief addresses to the crowds on the history of the 10 Cmdts battle, Judge Roy Moore's current and past work to advance and protect our Christian heritage, the work veterans through www.avidd.org and urge the audience to join in prayer and work to help this cause. Many visitors came to pray and to get their family photograph taken at the monument. It is clear that the 10 Cmdts issue has touched the hearts and minds of many Christians in USA and others who share this moral vision if the SC tour is an indication of the current sentiment on this matter. The brief South Carolina tour was a great success. We stood up for Judge Roy Moore.

Ten Commandments Monument to Appear in Columbia

The monument displaying the Ten Commandments which had been placed in the Alabama Supreme Court by Judge Roy Moore will be on display at the First Church of the Nazarene, Columbia, this Sunday afternoon, September 26 from 4:30 to 9:00 PM. The viewing is open to the public at no charge and thousands are expected to come view it and possibly have their pictures made beside the monument. The monument is on tour and will be arriving here from Spartanburg where it will be on display earlier in the day at Evangel Cathedral from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The First Church of The Nazarene is located at 901 St Andrews Road, just off I-26, and the display will be in the parking lot right beside the church facing St Andrews Road.

Rev Geoff Kunselman is pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene.

When questioned concerning the church hosting the monument, Rev Kunselman had the following comments: I believe this display is a reminder that there is a God who governs the universe, that truth is objective, and that His laws are for the good and benefit of all people. I see this monument as a testimony as to the viability of God’s Word and law even to our society. Individuals and societies are better for subscribing to these teachings. I also think it will be a tremendous opportunity for parents to discuss with their children both the Ten Commandments themselves as well as the issues surrounding this particular monument.

When asked if he thought the display will be controversial, Rev Kunselman said, It is not my intention to be controversial; however, I suppose that is possible. By and large, knowing the people of South Carolina as I do, I expect most of them will be appreciative of the small gesture on our part to make it possible for them to view it. From what I am told, thousands of people are viewing the monument all over the country wherever it is taken, and are grateful for the occasion.

Although the monument was forcibly removed from the Court and Judge Moore himself was removed as Chief Justice, Rev Kunselman said, I believe Judge Moore made a credible argument for the continued display of the monument at the Alabama Supreme Court.

Much has been made about [the] expression “separation of church and state” in recent years. I am opposed to any type of state organized or state controlled religion. We would do well to remember the First Amendment to the Constitution states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof... As Americans we are blessed with freedom which includes both freedom from and freedom to worship.

Nahum 2:13
Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.

Nahum 3:1
Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not;
